WHAT ABOUT MY PRESENT LIFE? THIS IS NOT WHO I AM!
“Your core convictions/beliefs play the ultimate role in defining you and your current reality—not your horrific past and/or present challenges/trauma. Your convictions and beliefs will actually determine who you become and seal the verdict. It is the bedrock of your being.” Dr Sylvia Forchap-Likambi
Once again, SAY NO to all manner of labels and definitions that are beneath greatness, success, and your vision.
Who is this again defining you by your present life, status, and so called “reality”? Like your past, your present is evident… It is the now—your current life and reality. Nevertheless, the narratives must be told by you. It is very obvious that you know your present because you’re living in the present right now. Maybe you are thriving; you are doing extremely well; your business is successful. Maybe you are suffering; maybe you are being oppressed; maybe you are depressed. Whatever the case, that is what you see and live in the moment.
However, just like your past, your present reality or circumstances/condition does not define you and never will—unless you consciously or unconsciously allow it to. It is only temporal … and by tomorrow all that which is today will once more become a thing of the past with the same rule and principles that applied to the past!
Remember … your present circumstance/status is not your identity. Your current job and/or title are not your identity and do not define you. Your present condition and circumstances do not and will never define you. The current state of your health and well-being do not define you either.
Never allow people to define you by your present circumstances/condition. Do not let people or society put you into a box or box you into your present condition. Do not allow your current health, educational, and/or financial status to define or predict your future. Do not let people judge or label you because of who you are today or the type of job you are doing today… Once again, SAY NO to all manner of labels and definitions that are beneath greatness, success, and your vision.
You must be able to break down/ overcome the barriers of your past and present in order to access and build your life on the foundational pillars/beliefs and values that you hold. Because your narratives and the way you see and present yourself are not determined by your past and present experiences but by your perception and hence interpretation of these. For example, two people can go through exactly the same situation/experiences in life and yet their interpretation/narratives of the experiences are very different and in some cases very contrasting. Consequently, your past and current life experiences are not necessarily responsible for whom you become, but your perception, understanding, and interpretation of such experiences are. On the other hand, your past and present do not determine the direction/path of your life but your core beliefs/values and the lessons drawn from your past and present.
This may also represent what your parents, loved ones/friends, trusted sources, acquaintances and/or society have told you in the past/about your past … and you believed their narratives and are unconsciously holding on to these limiting beliefs that have shaped your fundamental beliefs about who you are without your being fully aware of this fact.
For example, if all your parents ever told you while you were growing up were words that crushed you and made you feel worthless, such as, “You are not good enough; you are horrible; you are a loser and a failure,” etc., then you may grow up believing that this is genuinely who you are based on your past experiences and unconsciously see and describe yourself accordingly.
Let’s assume that, at the moment, you are encountering some difficult life challenges and your past has been horrible/traumatic; actually, there is a stigma attached to you as a result of your horrible past. Your present is also horrible as a result of your past and you continue to hold on to this stigma from the past with you—everywhere you go. Guess what I am about to tell you; your core convictions/beliefs play the ultimate role in defining you and your current reality—not your horrific past and/or present challenges/trauma. If only you can still belief that you are born to thrive, you are a great and amazing individual who is destined for success and greatness, then you can still succeed amidst all odds. Your convictions and beliefs will actually determine who you become and seal the verdict. It is the bedrock of your being. You can change those limiting and destructive beliefs you hold about yourself and your life right here and now. You can rebuild your foundation, if what you currently have is a shaky and weak foundation. You can start cultivating those uplifting and empowering beliefs and do away with all the disempowering, destructive, and limiting beliefs you currently hold about yourself/your identity.
To your greatness!
